Joan Hewitt, Au.D. is a pediatric audiologist specializing in diagnosing and treating infants and children with hearing loss. For more than 30 years, Dr. Hewitt has provided auditory/oral services,diagnostic testing, hearing aid fitting, cochlear implant services, and educational support to children, families, and school districts. She is a pediatric audiologist with Project TALK, a nationally and internationally known program focused on ensuring children with hearing loss receive maximal benefit from their hearing technology. Board certified with specialization in cochlear implants, Dr. Hewitt has advanced degrees in both audiology and auditory/oral education of the deaf. Dr. Hewitt teaches audiology in the SLP program at at California State University – San Marcos, is a frequent presenter at conferences, is co-editor/author of From Listening to Language: Comprehensive Intervetion to Maximize Learning for Children and Adults with Hearing Loss, and has written chapters textbooks chapters on diagnosis and management of hearing loss in children..
