Ishara Ramkissoon, Ph.D., CCC-A is an Associate Professor at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. She directs the Multicultural Research Lab focused on aging, auditory assessment, multicultural concerns, environmental issues, and curriculum review. Dr. Ramkissoon collaborates on projects addressing cultural responsiveness in the profession and ethics of international engagement. Her academic teaching spans diagnostic and medical audiology, research for AuD, practice management, and multicultural issues. Dr. Ramkissoon is Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Perspectives of ASHA Special Interest Groups. Previously, her professional service included committee membership on ASHA’s Multicultural Issues Board, ASHA International Issues Board, ASHA Ad Hoc Committee on Global Engagement, and Perspectives SIG 8 Editor. Dr. Ramkissoon earned her MA in Audiology (1994) and Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Science (2005) at the University of Illinois. She has over 10 years of clinical experience in audiology and speech therapy, attained in community health, hospital, and university clinic settings.
