Prof. Verhulst heads the Hearing Technology Lab at UGent (waves.intec.ugent.be/hearing-technology), a research team working on human auditory-evoked potentials, sound perception as well as computational auditory modeling and machine learning to inspire the next generation of hearing technologies in diagnostics, treatment and machine hearing. She has an electrical/acoustical engineering background and employs an interdisciplinary approach to translate the neuroscience of sound and speech encoding into new technologies. The lab focusses on both fundamental auditory neuroscience and hearing research as well as applied research into novel hearing technologies.
