Dr. Oh joined the faculty in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Communicative Disorders in 2022. He graduated from Ohio State University where he earned both his M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering and his Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences. He also completed his postdoctoral training at the Oregon Hearing Research Center (OHRC) and the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR). Dr. Oh’s research is focused on asking how hearing loss affects auditory function and speech processing. He is searching how other sensory information interacts during speech perception processing and developing a computational model with diverse theories in the areas of psychophysics, digital signal processing, and neural networks to answer those questions. His current studies are conducted using human subjects (healthy, normal-hearing participants and patients with hearing impairment and/or other sensory deficits) and computational model-based approaches using artificial intelligence techniques such as blind source segregation.
