Elaine Xu is an assistant professor of Audiology at Western Washington University, where she specializes in speech understanding in noise and brainstem speech encoding in a variety of populations, including bilingual speakers and bimodal listeners. She earned her Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas at Austin, where her dissertation focused on bilingual listeners' performance in understanding bimodal speech in noise.
