Christopher Spankovich, AuD, PhD, MPH, is a Tenured Professor, Clinical Audiologist, and the Vice Chair of Research for the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). He also serves as the director of the Doctor of Audiology Program at UMMC. His research program spans basic and epidemiological investigations into identifying and leveraging modifiable risk factors to mitigate susceptibility to acquired hearing loss and tinnitus. His research has been funded by industry, federal, and professional bodies. He has published over 100 articles and book chapters (64 in peer-reviewed journals) and has given over 70 national and international presentations. His clinical interests include advanced diagnostics, tinnitus and decreased sound tolerance evaluation and management, ototoxicity, hearing conservation, and otoprotection. He currently serves on the Board of the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education. Dr. Spankovich also provides consulting services for medico-legal matters.
